Once both parties have agreed to a settlement, the mediation will have successfully avoided lengthy and costly court proceedings. The agreement will be submitted to the judge who can then approve the terms of the settlement.

At this point, the mediation can be scheduled. During the mediation, each party and their representing attorney (if applicable) will be met with separately in individual private rooms. Once I’m selected as mediator, typically by counsel, I will request all relevant documents and confidential information from each side. This allows me to prepare for the scheduled mediation.
Prior to mediation, each party and counsel must agree to the mediator. If I’m suggested by counsel for mediation, each party and their attorney may use this website to research qualifications; however, the first contact between parties and myself is during the scheduled mediation.
